Kansai: Day 1 - Numazu City

Assalam..

Minnasan Ohaiyo gozaimasu!

On the 2nd April hari tu, aku ada study trip to Kansai Region selama 3 hari 2 malam.

Tsunami course 3 hari ajekkkk! Sentip! :p

Dan mula2 kami ke Numazu City Hall. Keterangan seperti karangan budak sekolah report aku ni.

Numazu City Hall

The first place we visited in Numazu City was Numazu City Hall where the Disaster Prevention and Earthquake Protection Division are located. Here, we were briefly introduced about the countermeasures against tsunami in Numazu City from the Tokai earthquake. Among the approaches taken in preparation for the tsunami disaster are maintaining a storage sheds on a hill to store the disaster supplies, escaping route improvement for easy evacuation to a safer place, displayed the escape and guiding route signboard, also displaying tsunami warning danger signboard to catch people’s attention, construction of evacuation mount and stairs in case of collapse of steep terrain in the event of tsunami and also the construction of water gate in Numazu Port to stand up against tsunami as well as to attract tourist. We visited some of the countermeasures facilities mentioned above.

Numazu Port - Watergate View-O

Watergate in Numazu Port

The estimated magnitude of Tokai earthquake is very high, about Mw 8.0. Tsunami is expected from such a large earthquake. Therefore to protect the city from tsunami, floodgate is constructed in 1996 and completed in year 2004 with cost of construction about 4.3 billion yen and become the largest floodgate in Japan. It is situated at the shipping entrance to the Numazu Port; the gate panel is 40 m width and 406 tons weight. The total height of this floodgate is over 900 tons, height from the ground about 30.0 m, width 40 m and the clearance height over the waterway about 15.0 m. Three seismometers were installed in the floodgate. When two of the three seismometers detected a seismic motion of more than 250 gal, the floodgate automatically closed. It is estimated that 5500 people in the nearby area will benefit from this facilities.

Tsunami Evacuation Mount and Stairs

The Government has constructed evacuation mount and stairs to prevent the collapse of steep terrain. These facilities basically used by peoples who missed the chance to evacuate to safer place in the event of tsunami. They reformed the mountain by flatten the top and make it as evacuation mount for emergencies. The evacuation mount has T.P + 12.00 m height and dimension of 600 m2. This place can accommodate up to 300 people at one time. Stairs were constructed parallel to the landslide prevention for protecting people from the tsunami.

Other than the above precautions and countermeasures, the city is equipped by the electrical land lock which is manually controlled by the Fire Department. The total numbers of the land lock in Numazu City are seven.

Land Lock

Tapi sbb kali ni bukan reserved seat, naik saje the next shinkansen.

    1. Land lock ni pagar sebenarnya. Sebab dia letaknya di tengah jalan, so kita panggil land la. Kat tempat ni embankment takde kat semua tempat. so kalau ada tsunami, separuh tempat kena tsunami dan separuh tempat lagi tak kene tsunami (insyaAllah). So pagar tu nnt bila time tsunami tutup jalan tu kat tgh2 spaya air tak mengalir masuk ke tmpt yg ada embankment.
